For all it was a
curse, an unattainable destiny.
But then, maybe it
was a blessing,
Bestowed on only a
few.
For me it was
joy, a reason to smile.
But then, for the
rest it was just the sky,
Crying it all out.
For some it was a
path straighter than any,
But then, there were
bends further ahead,
When our road was
clear.
For most it was
claustrophobic and confined,
But then, for them it
was different;
Where they were
alive.
For us it was
melancholy, sorrow and sadness.
But then for some, it
was only then,
That they smiled.
-Momina.

Words seem to bridge across all kinds of distances. I feel so close while reading your pieces. Then when they end I remember, she talks of another them, another us..but does she?
Thank you so much, Su, I am so glad you liked it! :'D
DeleteI haven't kept a specific 'them' or 'she' or 'us' as my inspiration. I wrote this generally, however if this effort of mine has captured what you and others feel for real, then I am overwhelmed because I know I have done well. For people to be able to read and relate, to feel what I write is most important to me, and if I've done it, then I have achieved my aim.
If that us or she is you, then it is you.
..and do you?
ReplyDeleteSeems like an eon has passed since I came here :(
ReplyDeleteComing to this poem, well, you never cease to charm me with your words! The way you twist words and put your thoughts right across, like they are hiding in a veil, yet only few eyes can see! See, coming here does cast its magical effect!
i loved the last stanza, and the way you put out the contrasting happy ans sad sides, which were actually opposite on the beginning! Lovely!
Thank you so much, Dreamygal!
DeleteYour words always bring me joy! And I am so glad that I can get across the meaning behind all this, to you and the rest.

I love this piece, it shows how important it is to remember that everyone has their own glasses they see the world through.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ghadeer. It's always a pleasure to know what you think of them.

ReplyDeleteA very good attempt, Mo. I liked it a lot.
Thank you so much, Hira! Glad you did! :)
DeleteIs this about loneliness?
ReplyDeleteIt's about everything we feel and that which we do not but the rest do!
DeleteWe all have our own views ... the best thing we can do is to be positive about our views ... well done !!!
ReplyDeleteExactly, thank you! :)
DeleteMultiplicity of perceptions. I love it. Smooth, simple and simply amazing.
